After graduating from high school, I joined the Army National Guard and left for Army Basic Training in the fall. Upon graduating, I volunteered to deploy to Iraq. Spending a year there was an immense learning experience; immersing in different cultures and environments truly broadens one's perspective. Upon returning, I contemplated my future and embarked on a college journey, initially aiming for nursing. However, my path led me to a Bachelor's in Science in Clinical Laboratory Science from the University of Massachusetts.

My ambition then shifted towards becoming a research scientist in cancer research. During an interview for a pediatric cancer research position, a Research Scientist's candid advice made me reconsider my career path. She emphasized the all-consuming nature of the job, which, as a mother, I could not commit to. Instead, I pursued a career as a Medical Technologist in various hospitals.

Years of working with new analyzers, computer systems, and constant troubleshooting sparked my interest in Quality Control. This led to a role in Quality Assurance, where I grew curious about the inception of projects. While considering coding, I discovered UX Design, which resonated with me. The ability to conceptualize an idea and bring it to life in Figma is truly remarkable.

Now, I'm poised for the next chapter: securing a position as a UX Designer.

Over the past month, I've dedicated myself to learning everything possible about UX Design, primarily through using Figma. There's still much to learn, but the progress I've achieved so far is very encouraging.
